Hand drawn in permanent, fade and water proof fine line pens and alcohol markers. Finished with a UV Matte spray varnish. Signed on back.
This is a one-of-a-kind, unique drawing, without prints.
Inspired by imagining the natural world at a cellular level. I feel deeply connected to nature and its a constant source of inspiration. I’ve always been fascinated by the colours and shapes in the details and the reoccurring patterns. This series of drawings is inspired by the rolling hills and forests where I live in the South Downs National Park in Hampshire as well as the local coastline which I’m naturally drawn to.
I began developing my style of drawing after discovering micrographs of plant cells, I was fascinated by the idea that all living things are made up of tiny circles. I have always found drawing curved shapes relaxing and the repetitive nature of the way I draw now is the perfect antidote to the stresses of life. Around the same time I discovered the detailed illustrations by Ernst Haeckel a 19th century biologist and artist. For the last 7 years I have been experimenting and developing my drawing technique, always using strings of circles but trying different mediums and moving between abstract shapes towards flowers and landscapes.
